14th National Congress on Assisted Reproductive Techniques and advances in Infertility Management- ISAR 2009
is being held in Pune from 29th January to 1st February. This is an exclusive body of practising doctors in the field
of Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) who are going to deliberate and share knowledge.
ART is like any beautiful adolescent, raging and exciting, courting controversies and very difficult to understand.
There are no clear scientific and legal guidelines set on many issues in ART. The best in the field from India and
abroad will attend to put to rest many of such controversies.
The Congress is structured as two days of workshop (29th and 30th January) at various premier institutions- Gupte
Hospital and Research Center, Ruby Hall IVF and Endoscopy Center and Armed Forces Medical College. This is
followed by an extensive conference (31st January and 1st February) at the Le Meridian.
The Scientific Congress will have highlights of various strategies of infertility management and its advances. The
stellar speaker Dr Togas Tulandi will be giving an oration on ‘Changing Concept in Infertility Management’.
There is a specialized session on use of Imaging and Science and Endoscopy to enhance fertility results.
With increasing incidence of male infertility, a dedicated workshop addressing this issue has been planned at the
Ruby Hall Clinic to be attended in large numbers.
This conference is attracting over 500 delegates from all over the country.
The highlight being the Embryology workshop (conveners Dr Vijay Mangoli and Mrs Sonal Vaidya) being held at
Ruby Hall Clinic will be a first of its kind in India, where live demonstration of IMSI technique (Intra-cytoplasmic
Morphologically Selected Sperm Injection) under high magnification and computer enhanced techniques done to
select morphologically the best sperm for fertilization, a challenging feat in itself.
Many senior and experienced faculties from overseas- Prof. Togas Tulandi (Canada), Prof Gab Covacs (Australia),
Prof Ian Cooke (UK), Prof Anne Loft (Denmark), Dr Daniel Franfen (South Africa), Dr Enver Dirican (Turkey), Dr
Ashok Agarwal (USA), Dr Suresh Katera (Singapore) and Mrs Ying Shen (Germany) will be sharing their
experiences.
National celebrated doctors in ART Dr Sadhana Desai from Mumbai is current president ISAR, had fully supported
this endeavor. Dr Sanjay Gupte a renowned Gynecologist from Pune is the Organizing Chairperson. Dr Sunita
Tandulwadkar, Chief of IVF and Endoscopy unit of Ruby Hall Clinic is the Organizing Secretary. Their respective
contribution to this field has been enormous.
Many noted personalities including Dr C.N. Purandare, President FOGSI, Dr Kamini Rao, Dr R.P. Soonawala, Dr
B.N. Chakravarty, Dr Duru Shah and Dr Narendra Malhotra would be participating.
